can u post the nominations here :D
Another year, another best actor/actress nom, for a music biopic.
A remake gets noms for three of the biggest Oscar categories.
Is it just me, or are the Oscar judges no longer bothered when it comes to properly looking at films?

I'm not sure I agree with all of the comments here.
For one thing, do this year's nominations really suggest that Oscar judges aren't really interested in watching films (as some have suggested)? I admit I've not seen all the nominated films here yet but I've not heard anyone suggest the likes of Babel, The Departed etc are anything other than good films.
Are there any other films which people would have preferred to have seen nominated?
Secondly, Dreamgirls isn't actually a biopic (pedantic, I know!)
I'd really love to see Little Miss Sunshine win Best Picture as it's flipping fantastic, but I think it'll go to The Departed. My predictions are:
Best Picture: The Departed
Director: Martin Scorsese
Actor: Forest Whitaker
Actress: Helen Mirren
Supporting Actor: Mark Wahlberg
Supporting Actress: Cate Blanchett
Adapted screenplay: Children of Men
Original screenplay: Pan's Labyrinth

Just saw The Last King Of Scotland and Forest definitely deserves the Oscar.
Never thought I'd say that after 1994!
So what did everyone think of the results? : )
IMO:
Congrats to Helen and Forest : ) .
I wasn't happy that a remake of a foreign film won one of the big 5  , and generally I could imagine Scorcese being a bit p****d off that the only film of his that the Academy deemed worthy of an Oscar win, was a remake. If he was Oliver Stone, he probably would have made a protest :D.
It's good to see another comedy performance win an Oscar, but in truth I think Eddie Murphy needed the win more, mainly due to the fact that his flagging career needs a major boost.
I was kind of annoyed that Dreamgirls won an acting Oscar, because it just shows just how much a biopic has become an easy win route for the Oscars. Yes I am aware that technically it isn't a Supremes biopic, but that's like saying Last Days wasn't a Kurt Cobain biopic :D.
I'm just pleased that Little Miss Sunshine wasn't ignored, even if it didn't get Best Picture.

Im glad Martin Scorsese won but dont think he deserved to with a remake of a modern film. Mind you The Departed is a great film and the other movies in the running werent what i would class as Oscar material either.
I didnt watch the ceremony as i do find the Oscars are pretty dire and way more political than i remember them being. Sadly its more of a 'well he deserves to win one for his past efforts so we shall let him have it this time' sort of thing (im not just talking about Scorsese, they did the same With Pater Jackson and Spielberg to name 2)
