hey monthly crew,im glad to see you agree with me on this issue,or so it seems.this is mighty similar to my sequels thread in the general talk forum.i agree with anne on this one, there are way too many remakes, which all suck, and also too many sequels these days.this year takes the biscuit frankly, check out the known list in sequels thread.

im a bit torn between remakes first there unoriginal and mostly inferior to the original films
but if you havent seen the original it is a good way to introduce them to a younger generation

When it comes to remakes and whether they are just an easy way to earn money, or if they actually add something new to the cinema world, all you need to do is remember one phrase:

"If it aint broke, don't fix it." :)

Remakes can sometimes be good and sometimes be a huge mistake. Would the 'young un's ' even watch the original film from the 1960s or 1970s. I mean how many people didnt even know The Hills Have Eyes or The Fog was a remake- shocking statistics........

Too true Stuart.

Somebody in my work today thought that Freaky Friday was based on the 80s film Vice Versa, due to the fact that it was made in the 00s.

I soon explained to my somewhat surprised colleague that the original Freaky Friday was made in the 70s

Can't think of any good recent remakes, but John Carpenter's 'TheThing' makes them worthwhile in my opinion.
