i just gotta say........the simpsons are brill,i love em,they WERE the best animated series on this planet we call earth.in the lastest issue87 'month at a glance' you mention series 9,now i love the simpsons but in my humble opinion the series lost its magic after series6,shock,horror,yes thats what i said,series6.
the early series were brilliantly original, touching, not filled with cameos and more importantly you could relate to the stories being told.you could sit down watch an episode and say 'yeah, thats happened to me' or 'i know how homer, bart, lisa etc... feels with that'.it was true to the life of a common family with everyday problems.
since then the series has become an utter farse.the stories are waaaaay over the top and totally of the wall resulting in loss of the personal touch with the audience.there are waaaay to many cameos which make it just a celebraty freefall and quite frankly the whole thing has gone on far too long.i even believe the animation looked nicer and warmer in the early series, softer colours...a more laid back look.
most of my friends and even parents agree (they loved the simpsons at first, bart growing up was a fav) that the simpsons these days is just bizaare.every episode they do something more south park than simpsons, thats fine if you intend from the beginning to make a series like that but the simpsons have just u-turned half way through their life and started a totally new style which is a complete oppersite to its original start.
ok,certain members of monthly like it,im wondering if anybody thinks like i do?
