Well it's been officially announced that Robert Downey Jr will be playing Iron Man in the new film, but do you think he actually has the presence to pull off the role of a Superhero or not?

R Downey is a great actor and im sure he could pull off a super hero role with ease.
More to the point though will people go and see Iron Man.
With the slate of Marvel films going into production getting longer each day, will the comic book desire collapse or will people keep flocking to see them?

It might do, but i think iron Man will me one of the biggest hits Marvel has done. Tehn again Robert Downey .Jr. might put people off a bit.

I ordered Marvel Ultimate Alliance for the 360....I'll have to be Iron Man when I play it :)

Not sure about Rob being Stark, but Iron Man is a Mavel fave of mine so I'll need to see it.

oh dear oh dear,nough said,im not a comic book movie fan,the best adaptation was the crow n burtons batman movies,blade not bad,spawn underated could do better the rest r poo.dont even get me started on the recent stuff,spiderman,superman,hulk etc..hahahahahaha :p

I just found out they are not going to touch on Tony Stark being a bit of an alcoholic...Why else cast Rob for this role? It's the one reason I thought he really could pull it off.

Gabriel Byrne would be the perfect Tony Stark, but it looks like we'll have to settle for RDJ. I just don't see him as Stark myself; I always imagined Tony to be a slightly older guy than RDJ looks; can anybody here really believe that RDJ could be the head of a multi million dollar corporation and a mechanical/electrical engineering genius as well? And leaving out Stark's alcoholism is just a cop out for the modern feel good generation.
