The Untouchables – Season 1, Volume 2
Reviewer: Jordan Brown
Issue 106 August 2008
Review: With Brian DePalma’s 1987 mob movie stealing most of the limelight, many of you may have completely forgotten that The Untouchables was in fact a remake of this long-running TV serial. Revolving around the experiences of prohibition agent Eliot Ness as he attempts to free Chicago’s underworld from Al Capone’s vice-like grip, the series was a huge hit, which spawned a cult following. This 14 episode box set features hours and hours of gritty gangster mayhem at its finest. With stunning performances from Robert Stack as Eliot Ness and Bruce Gordon as the fiendish Frank ‘The Enforcer’ Nitti, it makes for a hugely enjoyable four-discer that gangster fans should lap up. At over 11 hours long, it’s also something of a bargain.
