The Lowdown: After kissing Pam at the office casino night, Jim has taken a promotion and relocated to Stamford. As everyone adjusts to the changes, things get awkward when the branches merge and Jim comes back to the Scranton office – along with hot new girlfriend Karen Filippelli.
Review: At the moment, there are very few shows out there that can claim to be anywhere near as bladder-burstingly funny as The Office. Starting off as a shameless rip off of our own UK version, it’s since blossomed into a fantastic little show that seamlessly blends hilarious scenarios, madcap characters and Steve Carell’s effervescent energy into one fantastic, unmissable series. While Season 2 proved to be a massive leap forward for the show, it’s this box set that provides the most laughs and the greatest drama yet.
After showing us last season that the show doesn’t need to pilfer our gags anymore, The Office once again ups its game with the introduction of some ace new characters, including new sales rep Andy Bernard. Expertly performed by Ed Helms, his snivelling kiss-arse single-handedly provides most of the belly laughs the series has to offer and even manages to eclipse Carell as the funniest thing on the show. Directed by Joss Whedon, ‘Business School’ easily stands out as the best episode on offer. With a plot revolving around Jim tricking Dwight into believing he’s become a vampire, it’s essential viewing for fans of ‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer’.
With other bits and bobs bunched into the set, such as extra long episodes and a superb bundle of features such as the Dwight Schrute music video and the Michael Scott directed ‘Lazy Scranton’, it helps round off the best box set the series has churned out thus far. Bring on Season 4.
