Review: One thing that us lot at HD Monthly noticed early on regarding Blu-ray was that a lot of the titles made before the mid 90s don’t look particularly cracking on the format. While some films don’t rely all that heavily on visuals, others do and it’s the shoddy versions of these films that are doing the format no favours. You Blu-ray-owning Baz Luhrman fans will be gutted to note that Strictly Ballroom is one of these less-than-spectacular releases. Looking gritty, dark and rather soft, it’s not a good transfer for a film that relies on bright colours bouncing off sequined jumpsuits. On the plus side, the disc boasts nice clear audio and a handful of features including the trailer, featurette and a ‘Love Is In The Air’ music video. Still, it’s not worth bothering with if you have the DVD.
