Review: In the ten years that ‘Friends’ dominated the airwaves, the only US sitcom that came close to it in terms of popularity was the ‘Cheers’ spin-off, Friends. The only difference was that while ‘Friends’ lost a lot of its lustre after a decade, Frasier remained consistently funny and always fresh. This penultimate season kicks off with the family stunned that Niles and Daphne have eloped to Reno and also sees the titular radio shrink illegally dealing caviar, delivering his son’s Bar mitzvah blessing in Klingon and having to help his family cope when Niles is diagnosed with a potentially fatal heart condition. With the likes of Zooey Deschanel, Dean Cain and Elvis Costelo guest starring, it makes for a fantastic season of one of the smartest US sitcoms of all time.
