Steve Miller Band – Live From Chicago
Reviewer: Tom Leins
Issue 105 July 2008
This lavish three-disc (2 DVDs, 1 CD) box set celebrates 40 years of the Steve Miller Band. Miller, the man behind rock classics like ‘Abracadabra’, ‘The Joker’ and ‘Fly Like An Eagle’ certainly knows how to throw a party, and this 20-song ‘best of’ set has been captured on film by 17 hi-def cameras over two sold-out evenings at The Ravinia, which is generally best known as the home of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Happily, Miller and co. are in fine form, and quickly wow the crowd with their radio-friendly unit shifters. The bonus disc includes a 20-minute documentary that follows Steve Miller himself on a cab-ride across Chicago, as he revisits some of his old musical haunts. Any Steve Miller fans out there are well-advised to seek out this impressively luxurious package.
