After the crappy 2005 film version, it’s easy to forget that at one point there were some genuinely enjoyable Lassie films produced. For any fans of the famous collie’s heroic escapades, you’ll be pleased to see that three of her best-loved adventures have been bundled together in this three-disc set. Including Lassie Come Home, Son Of Lassie and Courage Of Lassie, the set perfectly exemplifies everything that made the mutt such a worldwide hit. Beautifully restored and featuring superb performances from Roddy McDowall and Elizabeth Taylor, the three films see the dog bailing the upright Carraclough family out of many a sticky situation. Good, classic family fun with a decent helping of extras thrown in too. It’s a package that’ll just about erase all memory of the aforementioned 2005 farce.
