Target: Harry
Reviewer: Tom Leins
Issue 103 May 2008
Review: Exploitation kingpin Roger Corman has made more movies than I’ve had hot dinners, but Target: Harry has to be one of his more obscure offerings. Essentially a lukewarm Maltese Falcon knock-off, this continent-straddling espionage caper hopes to channel the spirit of James Bond as it follows Harry Black, a charter pilot who is caught up in a scam to steal a set of priceless engraving plates. Interestingly, cult director Monte Hellman (director of Two Lane Blacktop, executive producer of Reservoir Dogs) acts as editor for Corman. Target: Harry is a pretty ropey affair, but it does feature a great turn from Suzanne Pleshette as a mysterious femme fatale! It lacks even basic extras such as scene selection, but then again, at £4.99, what do you expect? All in all, rubbish but fun.
